Nightshade in Kimono.. by Yukiko-chan Nightshade in Kimono.. by Yukiko-chan
Finally! a use for that photoshop leaf brush!! LOL!
This is based off my original character.. but using what clothing she's wearing in her Gaia avatar... her hair is explained in the progress picture which is the one submitted RIGHT before this.... so i'm not gonna explain again..
The Kimono is called the "Autumn Leaf Kimono".. and in the avatar... it looks more like some swirled blobs of color than actually leafs... so. I decided instead of just doing swirled blobs of color.. I was going to use the Leaf brush and use the colors based off the avatar to make it pretty..
I had a really "DURRRR me stooooooooooopid" moment right after finishing her kimono, eyes, obi.. shoes.. ect....... I SAVED THE JPG with the progress.. but DIDN'T save the PSD with it!! so now.. the 2 hrs work it did to do her face, eyes, kimono, obi, shoes, and hands.. is all gone.. aside from the original HQ jpg that i saved...
I feel reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal stupid..
for anyone curious, I used the leaf brush in photoshop in the following sizes.. for the brown it's the original 74, for the orange it's 38, and for the golden-yellow its 24.. thats for the most part.. the places that the leaves are all small... its just the 24 size.. ^_^
.. excuse me while I go bash my head against the wall a few times for not saving the psd.. ..
BAKA YUKI!! BAKA!!

edit: OHH!! and originally.. she was supposed to be wearing this lingere that I found and REALLY liked.. but.. i lost the picture i had saved and forgot the website.. well i figured out what folder i put the picture in.. but that was after already starting the Kimono.. and giving her the pose of a model from a different picture of a different lingere i'm gonna use for another char...
thats why she's wearing black heel shoes... and since i forgot to save the psd with the Kimono.. I can now just use it to put the lingere on anyway... ... still pised about it tho!

ohh.. and shamless self promotion....... this picture is on two shirts in my store.. which is [link]

Very pretty! You did a great job on the kimono! ^^ Coloring those are hard...I still haven't been able to come up with a kimono design for my Geisha girlie. >.< Anyway, very, very nice!

hmm, a good idea is to search for photoshop tones/brushes in kimono patterns.. I have found in the past some very nicely scanned actual fabric swatches that look very very good for Kimono.. ^_^ had i not just based NightShade's and Kisarune's off of the ones from the Gaia avatars.. i would have gone to search for some of my own.. another good thing to look for is scanned oragami paper.. some of them are very pretty and make good Kimono patterns.. or.. just download various photoshop brushes (I have TONS all sorts of shapes and designs.. I like alot of them, and have found more that I'm in the process of downloading) and experiment with different fabric colors for the kimono, and different colors for the brushes.. i like to use "scattering" and "shape dynamics" for brushes to get different sizes of what i'm using.. ^_^ worked fairly well in this one don't you think?
.. hmmmm, wanna do a collab? since you've already done the lineart, and the outline on your Geisha girlie.. do you mind if I color her?

Those are some good suggestions, I just have a hard time finding brushes you don't have to pay for >.<

As for a collab, sure! That'd be neat. ^^ Just gimme a few days to redo the lineart for her. I've got a better, crisper looking method I use now. :D
